The fall season is one of the busiest of the year. Children and parents are still getting used to the new school year, extracurriculars are in full swing, and everyone is gearing up for the holiday season. Not to mention the fact that parents are preoccupied with working and providing for their families.
In all that, we here at Shore Family Dentistry simply wanted to remind you to schedule your dentist visits for you and your family before the end of the year.
Because you could lose your 2021 dental insurance benefits if you do not utilize them before December 31, 2021.
Dental insurance does not carry over from year to year. Use it or lose it.
Other than the obvious reasons to come see your dentist, here are five more
Patients must pay a deductible to their dentist before their insurance provider would cover the cost of dental services. You are not "getting your money's worth" if you have already paid your deductible yet have only visited the dentist once. Each year, your deductible resets.
Our health-care system and coverages are constantly in flux. As a result, take advantage of your advantages before the end of the year, as there may be fee hikes or a reduction in the services covered under your current plan.
Another good incentive to go to the dentist before the end of the year is to use up any remaining funds in your FSA. This is an account that you set up with your company and into which you may have chosen to deposit some of your pre-tax earnings. It's either use it or lose it: You'll forfeit your FSA if you don't utilize it all by the end of the year.
You are currently paying monthly dental insurance premiums through your insurance carrier, so you should be taking advantage of your advantages. Even if you have no pain or problems, you and your family should undergo regular dental cleanings and screenings to check for early signs of gum disease, cavities, gum recession, and even oral cancer.
Most dental plans include a yearly dollar limit. This is the maximum amount that a dental plan will pay toward the cost of dental care over the course of a benefit period (usually January through December). Expenses exceeding the annual maximum are the patient's responsibility. This amount varies by insurance carrier and is often renewed annually. Benefits that have not been used will not roll over.
Hope to see you in our Columbia, MD office before the end of the year!
